Power off the computer and unplug it
Open the case
Ground yourself to discharge static electricity
Locate the CPU socket on the motherboard
Lift the socket retention arm or open the socket cover
Align the CPU with the socket markings
Place the CPU gently into the socket
Close the socket cover or lower the retention arm
Apply thermal paste if the cooler does not have pre-applied paste
Mount the CPU cooler on top of the CPU
Secure the cooler evenly
Connect the cooler fan cable to the CPU fan header
Close the case
Reconnect power
Power on the computer and verify startup
