Obtain a notary application from the Maryland Secretary of State
Complete the application accurately
Get a recommender or endorsement if required
Submit the application with the required fee
Wait for approval from the Secretary of State
Receive your commission certificate
Take the oath of office if required
Purchase a notary seal and journal
Begin performing notarial acts within the scope of Maryland law
Renew your commission before it expires
