Complete high school or equivalent
Focus on biology, anatomy, math, and physics
Enroll in an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program
Choose a specialization if desired, such as general, cardiac, vascular, or obstetric sonography
Complete required classroom instruction and clinical training
Develop skills in patient care, communication, and equipment operation
Graduate from the sonography program
