Sit or lie down and rest

Try gentle vagal maneuvers if you have been told they are safe for you
Use relaxation techniques such as meditation or progressive muscle relaxation
Check your pulse again after a few minutes
Seek urgent medical help if you have chest pain, shortness of breath, fainting, severe dizziness, or a very fast heart rate that does not come down
