How To Calculate Average Atomic Mass?

Identify each naturally occurring isotope of the element and its atomic mass (mass number or measured isotopic mass)

Find the fractional abundance of each isotope (percent abundance ÷ 100)

Multiply each isotope’s atomic mass by its fractional abundance

Add the results for all isotopes

Use the formula: Average atomic mass = Σ (isotopic mass × fractional abundance)
