Measure the length of the area in feet
Measure the width of the area in feet
Multiply length by width
Use the formula: square feet = length × width
For irregular shapes, divide the area into smaller rectangles, calculate each one, then add them together
For triangles, use the formula: square feet = 0.5 × base × height
For circles, use the formula: square feet = 3.1416 × radius × radius
Make sure all measurements are in feet before calculating
If measurements are in inches, divide by 12 to convert to feet first
