Go out at night with a flashlight
Look near grass, bushes, rocks, and porch lights
Listen for chirping to find them
Use a jar, cup, or small container
Place a piece of cardboard or paper under the container
Move slowly and quietly
Cover the cricket quickly with the container
Slide the cardboard or paper underneath
Tip the cricket into the container
Put air holes in the lid if keeping it temporarily
Use a net if the cricket keeps jumping away
Wear gloves if needed
Release the cricket if you do not need it
