Open your network settings
Select your network (Wi‑Fi or Ethernet)
Choose your IP settings method: DHCP (automatic) or Manual (static)
If using DHCP:
Disconnect and reconnect to the network
Disable and re-enable the network adapter
Restart the router (if you control it)
If using a static IP:
Turn off DHCP/manual toggle
Enter the new IP address
Enter the subnet mask
Enter the default gateway
Enter DNS server addresses
Save/apply changes
Release and renew your IP (if available):
Windows: `ipconfig /release` then `ipconfig /renew`
macOS/Linux: restart the network service or renew via system/network settings
Confirm the new IP address:
Check “IP address” in network settings
Or run `ipconfig` (Windows) / `ip a` or `ifconfig` (macOS/Linux)
