Shift the bike to a stable position or use a bike stand
Release the brakes if they block wheel removal
Shift the chain onto the smallest rear cog
Open the quick release or loosen the axle nuts
Remove the wheel from the bike
Deflate the tyre completely
Use tyre levers to unseat one side of the tyre bead
Pull the inner tube out if the bike has one
Inspect the rim, tyre, and tube for damage or debris
Fit the new or repaired inner tube into the tyre if needed
Seat one tyre bead fully onto the rim
Inflate the tube slightly so it holds shape
Push the second tyre bead onto the rim
Check that the tube is not pinched between tyre and rim
Inflate the tyre to the recommended pressure
Reinstall the wheel on the bike
Tighten the quick release or axle nuts securely
Reconnect the brakes
Spin the wheel to check alignment and proper seating
