Hold the sword in a safe, stable position
Use a soft, clean cloth to wipe the blade
Dampen the cloth with clean water if needed
Wipe from the base of the blade toward the tip
Dry the blade completely with a separate cloth
Apply a light coat of sword oil if available
Avoid using abrasive materials on the blade
Clean the handle and guard separately with a dry cloth
Store the sword in a dry place after cleaning
