Unplug the dryer or turn off its gas supply
Pull the dryer away from the wall
Disconnect the vent hose from the dryer
Remove lint from the hose and vent opening
Use a vent brush or vacuum to clean inside the hose
Clean the dryer lint trap and lint trap housing
Clean the vent duct leading to the outside
Check the outside vent cap for lint or blockage
Remove any debris from the vent cap and flap
Reconnect the vent hose securely
Push the dryer back into place
Run the dryer briefly and confirm airflow at the outside vent
