Let the fireplace cool completely
Put on gloves
Lay down a drop cloth or newspaper
Remove loose soot with a dry microfiber cloth or soft brush
Make a paste with fireplace glass cleaner or a small amount of ash and water
Apply the cleaner to the glass with a damp cloth or sponge
Let it sit briefly if needed
Wipe the glass in circular motions
Use a clean damp cloth to remove residue
Dry the glass with a lint-free cloth
Repeat on stubborn spots if necessary
Avoid abrasive pads or harsh chemicals
Clean regularly to prevent heavy buildup
