Wear disposable gloves and, if possible, a mask
Open windows or ventilate the area before cleaning
Do not sweep or vacuum dry droppings
Spray the droppings and surrounding area with disinfectant or a bleach solution
Let the disinfectant sit for several minutes
Pick up the droppings with paper towels or disposable wipes
Place waste, gloves, and towels in a sealed plastic bag
Disinfect the area again after removing the droppings
Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after removing gloves
Wash any contaminated clothing or fabrics with hot water and detergent
Clean and disinfect any reusable tools used during cleanup
