Use a clean damp cloth to remove soap residue
Dry immediately with a soft towel
For stubborn grime, use a cloth lightly dampened with diluted white vinegar

Avoid soaking the wood
Avoid abrasive pads, harsh chemicals, and excess water
Apply wood polish or conditioner if appropriate for the finish
