Open Instagram in a web browser or the Instagram app
Go to your profile
Open Settings and privacy
Tap Accounts Center
Tap Personal details
Tap Account ownership and control
Tap Deactivation or deletion
Select the Instagram account you want to close
Choose Delete account
Tap Continue
Follow the prompts to confirm
Enter your password if asked
Confirm the deletion request
If you want a temporary close instead, choose Deactivate account instead of Delete account
