Open the Recent Apps screen
Swipe up or sideways on the app card to close it
Tap Close all if available
Open Settings
Tap Apps or Apps & notifications
Select the app
Tap Force stop
Confirm Force stop if prompted
Use the Back button to exit an app
Use the Home button to send an app to the background
