Get the correct cable or adapter
Turn off the Mac and monitor
Connect the cable from the Mac to the monitor
Turn on the monitor
Turn on the Mac
Open System Settings
Go to Displays
Select the monitor if it does not appear automatically
Choose mirror display or extended display
Adjust resolution and refresh rate if needed
Adjust display arrangement if using multiple monitors
