Turn on your iPad.
Confirm your iPad supports Apple Pencil pairing.
If using Apple Pencil (1st generation):
Remove the cap.
Plug the Pencil into the iPad’s Lightning port.
Wait for the pairing prompt.
Tap Pair.
If using Apple Pencil (2nd generation):
Turn on Bluetooth if needed.
Attach the Pencil to the side magnetic connector of the iPad.
Wait for the pairing prompt.
Tap Pair.
If you don’t see a pairing prompt:
Open Settings.
Tap Bluetooth.
Make sure Bluetooth is on.
Attach/connect the Pencil again.
If the Pencil is already paired but not working:
Ensure the Pencil has charge.
Restart the iPad.
Reattach the Pencil (2nd gen) or reconnect it (1st gen).
In Settings > Bluetooth, remove the Pencil device, then pair again.
Verify in Settings:
Go to Apple Pencil settings (if available).
Confirm the Pencil is listed as connected.
