Sort and rinse the beans
Soak the beans if desired
Drain soaked beans
Add beans to the pressure cooker
Add fresh water or broth
Do not fill the cooker more than halfway with beans and liquid
Add salt only if preferred after cooking or use a small amount before cooking
Secure the lid and set the pressure valve
Cook at high pressure
Use about 20 to 40 minutes depending on the bean type and whether they were soaked
Let the pressure release naturally for 10 to 20 minutes
Release any remaining pressure carefully
Open the lid
Check if the beans are tender
Cook a few more minutes if needed
Drain or use the beans as desired
