Rinse the fresh green beans under cold water
Trim off the stem ends
Cut the beans into desired lengths, if needed
Fill a pot with water and add a pinch of salt
Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat
Add the green beans to the boiling water
Cook for 3 to 5 minutes until tender-crisp
Drain the beans in a colander
Rinse with cold water to stop the cooking, if desired
Heat a skillet over medium heat
Add butter or olive oil
Add the drained green beans to the skillet
Season with salt and pepper
Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring occasionally
Serve warm
