How To Cure An Ingrown Toenail?

Soak the foot in warm water for 15 to 20 minutes, 3 to 4 times a day

Dry the foot thoroughly after soaking

Gently lift the ingrown nail edge with clean dental floss or a small piece of cotton

Change the cotton or floss daily

Apply an antibiotic ointment if the skin is broken

Cover the toe with a clean bandage

Wear roomy shoes or open-toed footwear

Trim toenails straight across, not too short

Avoid cutting or digging into the nail corners

Use over-the-counter pain relievers if needed

See a doctor if there is severe pain, swelling, pus, spreading redness, or repeated ingrown nails

Seek medical care sooner if you have diabetes, poor circulation, or a weakened immune system
