Rest the wrist and avoid activities that cause pain
Apply ice for 15–20 minutes every 2–3 hours for the first 48 hours
Wrap the wrist with an elastic bandage for compression
Keep the wrist elevated above heart level when possible
Use a wrist brace or splint to limit movement
Take over-the-counter pain relievers if safe for you
Start gentle range-of-motion exercises after pain and swelling begin to improve
Avoid heat, alcohol, and massage during the first 48 hours
See a doctor if pain is severe, swelling is significant, or movement is limited
Get urgent care if there is deformity, numbness, weakness, or worsening pain
