Clean and dry the bottle
Mark the cut line with tape or a marker
Score the bottle with a glass cutter or bottle cutter
Heat the scored line evenly with hot water or a flame
Cool the scored line quickly with cold water or ice
Repeat heat and cold cycles until the bottle separates
Smooth the cut edge with sandpaper or a glass file
Rinse the bottle thoroughly after cutting
