Rinse the pomegranate under cool water and pat dry
Cut off the crown (top) with a sharp knife
Score the skin into 4–6 sections from top to bottom without cutting through the fruit
Fill a bowl with cool water
Submerge the pomegranate and gently pull the sections apart by hand
Separate the arils (seeds) from the pith underwater
Skim off the pith and discard
Drain and rinse the arils, then pat dry
If eating immediately, use a spoon to scoop arils out of the sections (no water method)
