Open the Instagram app
Go to your profile
Tap the menu icon (three lines)
Tap Settings and privacy
Tap Account Center
Tap Personal details
Tap Account ownership and control
Tap Deactivation or deletion
Select Deactivate account
Choose a reason for deactivating
Re-enter your password
Tap Deactivate
Confirm when prompted
If you want to reactivate, log back into Instagram with your username and password
