Hold the balloon by the neck or knot
Gently open the seal or untie the knot if possible
Insert a straw into the valve opening if it has a self-sealing valve
Press the valve around the straw to release air or helium
Squeeze the balloon slowly to push the gas out
Keep the opening pointed away from your face
Continue until the balloon is fully deflated
Flatten the balloon carefully for storage or disposal
