Lay the necklace on a flat surface
Use good lighting
Separate the clasp and chain ends
Gently loosen the outer knots with your fingers
Use two straight pins, needles, or safety pins to tease apart tight tangles
Work from the outside of the knot toward the center
Apply a small amount of baby oil, olive oil, or talcum powder if needed
Pull slowly and never force the chain
Keep the chain flat while untangling
Reposition the necklace as each knot loosens
Wipe off any oil or residue after detangling
Close the clasp and store the necklace separately to prevent future tangles
