How to Determine Monthly Income?

Add all sources of income received in one month

Include salary or wages before deductions if using gross income

Include bonuses, commissions, tips, and overtime pay

Include self-employment income after business expenses if applicable

Include rental income, dividends, interest, and other recurring income

Include government benefits, pensions, alimony, or child support if received regularly

Exclude one-time windfalls unless they are recurring

Use the same time period for every income source

If income varies, calculate an average from several months

Divide annual income by 12 to get monthly income

Divide weekly income by 4.33 to estimate monthly income

Divide biweekly income by 2.17 to estimate monthly income

Sum all monthly amounts to get total monthly income
