Use the author’s last name and the year of publication in parentheses.
Place the citation before the period at the end of the sentence.
For a direct quote, include the page number after the year.
For paraphrasing, include the author and year only.
For two authors, include both last names joined by “and” in narrative text or “&” in parenthetical citations.
For three or more authors, use the first author’s last name followed by “et al.”
If there is no author, use the title of the work in quotation marks or italics, depending on the source.
If there is no date, use “n.d.” in place of the year.
For multiple sources in one citation, separate them with semicolons.
For a corporate or group author, use the organization name as the author.
For a quote from a source without page numbers, use a paragraph number, section heading, or other locator.
