Use the author’s last name and publication year in in-text citations
Put the citation in parentheses at the end of the sentence or after the quoted material
For one author, use: (Smith, 2020)
For two authors, use: (Smith & Jones, 2020)
For three or more authors, use: (Smith et al., 2020)
For direct quotes, include the page number: (Smith, 2020, p. 15)
For paraphrased ideas, page numbers are optional but recommended
In the reference list, start on a new page titled References
Alphabetize references by the first author’s last name
Use hanging indent format for each reference entry
Format book references as: Author, A. A. (Year). Title of book. Publisher
Format journal article references as: Author, A. A., & Author, B. B. (Year). Title of article. Title of Journal, volume(issue), page range. DOI or URL
Format website references as: Author, A. A. or Organization. (Year, Month Day). Title of page. Site Name. URL
Italicize book titles, journal titles, and volume numbers
Capitalize only the first word of the title and subtitle, and proper nouns
Include a DOI as a clickable link when available
Use double spacing and 1-inch margins throughout the paper
Use a readable font such as 12-point Times New Roman, 11-point Arial, or 11-point Calibri
