Examine your conscience and recall your sins since your last confession
Be sincerely sorry for your sins
Go to a Catholic church and enter the confessional or speak with a priest
Begin by saying, “Bless me, Father, for I have sinned. It has been [time] since my last confession.”
Confess your sins clearly and honestly
Mention any serious sins and, if possible, how many times you committed them
Listen to any guidance the priest gives
Say the Act of Contrition when instructed
Receive your penance from the priest
Receive absolution from the priest
Complete your penance as soon as possible
Resolve to avoid sin and confess again when needed
