Use the author’s last name and the page number in parentheses
Place the citation before the period at the end of the sentence
If the author’s name is mentioned in the sentence, include only the page number in parentheses
If there are two authors, include both last names joined by and
If there are three or more authors, use the first author’s last name followed by et al.
If there is no author, use a shortened version of the title in quotation marks
If there is no page number, include only the author’s last name
For multiple works by the same author, include a shortened title with the author’s name
For a source with no page numbers, do not add a page number
For indirect sources, use qtd. in before the cited source name or page number
