Measure the wall
Buy enough wallpaper, paste, and tools
Clear the room and protect floors and furniture
Remove old wallpaper, nails, and loose paint
Clean the wall surface
Repair holes and cracks
Sand rough areas
Prime the wall if needed
Cut wallpaper strips to length
Match the pattern if necessary
Mark a plumb line for the first strip
Apply paste or activate pre-pasted wallpaper
Fold pasted strips if required
Position the first strip on the wall
Smooth from the center outward
Remove air bubbles with a smoothing tool
Trim excess at the top and bottom
Butt seams tightly or overlap as directed
Continue with the remaining strips
Wipe off excess paste
Let the wallpaper dry completely
Reinstall outlet covers and fixtures
