Open the Messages app on your Android phone
Tap the three-dot menu
Select Settings
Check for an option like Chat features, Backup, or Export
Use Google One or Google Drive backup to save your messages
Go to Settings on your phone
Tap Google
Tap Backup
Turn on Backup by Google One
Back up the device to include text messages
Use a third-party SMS backup app from the Google Play Store
Install the app and grant SMS permissions
Choose Export or Backup in the app
Save the messages as a file such as XML, CSV, or TXT
Transfer the exported file to your computer or cloud storage
Use Android Device Backup restore tools if needed
For carrier records, log in to your mobile carrier account and check message history options
For legal or official copies, contact your carrier or use a forensic extraction service
