Turn off and unplug the pool pump, filter, heater, and any other electrical equipment
Disconnect the skimmer and return hoses if needed
Use a submersible pump or pool drain pump to remove the water
Place the pump at the deepest part of the pool
Attach a discharge hose and direct the water to an approved drainage area
Start the pump and monitor the water level as it drops
Stop pumping before the pool is completely empty if the liner needs support
Use a siphon hose only if a pump is not available
Open any built-in drain valve if your pool has one
Remove remaining water with a wet/dry vacuum or bucket
Clean and dry the pool after draining
Follow local rules for where drained water can go
