Use saline nasal rinse or saline spray to flush mucus from the nose
Try a warm shower or steam inhalation to loosen mucus
Apply warm compresses to the face and sinuses for 10–15 minutes
Stay well hydrated to thin mucus
Use a humidifier or run a cool-mist humidifier in your room
Sleep with your head elevated to help drainage
Gently blow your nose; avoid forceful blowing
Use a nasal decongestant spray (oxymetazoline) for up to 3 days only, if appropriate
Consider an oral decongestant (if safe for you) to reduce congestion
Consider an antihistamine if symptoms are allergy-related
Use an intranasal corticosteroid (such as fluticasone or mometasone) for ongoing inflammation if appropriate
Consider allergy control measures (trigger avoidance, dust control)
Seek medical care if symptoms last more than 10 days, worsen after initial improvement, or are severe
Seek urgent care if you have high fever, severe facial pain/swelling, vision changes, stiff neck, or confusion
