How To Drain Sinuses?

Use saline nasal rinse or saline spray to flush mucus from the nose

Try a warm shower or steam inhalation to loosen mucus

Apply warm compresses to the face and sinuses for 10–15 minutes

Stay well hydrated to thin mucus

Use a humidifier or run a cool-mist humidifier in your room

Sleep with your head elevated to help drainage

Gently blow your nose; avoid forceful blowing

Use a nasal decongestant spray (oxymetazoline) for up to 3 days only, if appropriate

Consider an oral decongestant (if safe for you) to reduce congestion

Consider an antihistamine if symptoms are allergy-related

Use an intranasal corticosteroid (such as fluticasone or mometasone) for ongoing inflammation if appropriate

Consider allergy control measures (trigger avoidance, dust control)

Seek medical care if symptoms last more than 10 days, worsen after initial improvement, or are severe

Seek urgent care if you have high fever, severe facial pain/swelling, vision changes, stiff neck, or confusion
