Sketch the head and hairline first

Draw the main outer shape of the hair
Block in large sections instead of individual strands
Add volume around the skull
Extend the hair length with flowing curves
Define clumps and layers within the hair
Vary strand thickness and spacing
Add bends, waves, or curls where needed
Show overlap between sections
Leave gaps for highlights
Darken the roots and inner areas
Refine the ends with tapered strokes
Add a few loose strands around the face
Clean up unnecessary construction lines
