Turn off the vacuum and unplug it
Remove the dust cup or canister
Hold it over a trash bin
Press the release button or latch
Empty the debris into the trash
Tap out any stuck dirt if needed
Reinsert the dust cup or canister
Make sure it is securely locked in place
