How To Factory Reset A MacBook Pro?

Back up your files with Time Machine or another backup method

Sign out of iCloud

Sign out of Messages

Sign out of Music, TV, and Apple Books if needed

If using macOS Ventura or later, open System Settings

Go to General

Select Transfer or Reset

Click Erase All Content and Settings

Follow the on-screen prompts

Enter your administrator password if requested

Confirm the erase process

Wait for the MacBook Pro to restart and erase itself

If using an older macOS version, restart the MacBook Pro

Hold Command and R during startup

Release the keys when the Apple logo or recovery screen appears

Select Disk Utility

Choose the startup disk

Click Erase

Quit Disk Utility

Select Reinstall macOS

Follow the on-screen instructions

Set up the MacBook Pro as new or shut it down for the next user
