If you own the iPad and forgot the passcode, put the iPad in recovery mode
Connect the iPad to a Mac or PC with a USB cable
Open Finder on macOS Catalina or later
Open iTunes on Windows or older macOS
Force restart the iPad to enter recovery mode
Keep holding the buttons until the recovery mode screen appears
When prompted on the computer, choose Restore
Wait for the computer to erase the iPad and reinstall iPadOS
Set up the iPad as new after the restore completes
If Activation Lock appears, sign in with the Apple ID previously used on the iPad
If you do not know the Apple ID or password, contact Apple Support or the previous owner
If Find My iPad is enabled and you can access iCloud, erase the iPad from iCloud.com/find
Sign in with the Apple ID linked to the iPad
Select the iPad
Choose Erase iPad
Confirm the erase
If the iPad is managed by a school or business, contact the organization’s administrator
