Average speed = total distance รท total time
Add all distances traveled
Add all time spent traveling
Divide total distance by total time
Use the same units for all distances and times
Convert units if needed before calculating
For a round trip, include both directions in the total distance
For multiple speeds over different segments, use the combined distance and combined time
Average speed is not the same as average of the speeds unless the time is equal for each segment
