Divide the annual salary by the number of work hours in a year
Use 2,080 hours for a standard full-time schedule
Formula: hourly rate = annual salary ÷ 2,080
Example: $52,000 ÷ 2,080 = $25 per hour
If you work fewer hours, divide by your actual annual work hours instead
Annual work hours = hours per week × weeks worked per year
Formula: hourly rate = annual salary ÷ (hours per week × weeks worked per year)
Example: $60,000 ÷ (40 × 52) = $28.85 per hour
For part-time or unpaid time off, subtract those hours first
For overtime calculations, use your regular hourly rate as the base
To estimate a weekly rate, divide salary by 52
To estimate a monthly rate, divide salary by 12
