Have your license plate, VIN, make, model, color, and last known location ready
Ask for the tow company name, impound location, pickup hours, and fees
Request a copy of the tow authorization or incident report if available
If the tow was from private property, ask for the property manager’s towing contract or posted towing policy
If the tow was from a public street, ask the police or parking authority which company handled it
If you still cannot find it, file a stolen vehicle report only if the car was not legally towed and no agency can confirm the tow
