Add all the numbers together
Divide the sum by how many numbers there are
If the data are grouped: multiply each value (or midpoint) by its frequency, add all results, then divide by the total frequency
If using a weighted average: multiply each value by its weight, add all results, then divide by the sum of the weights
Use the same units as the original data for the final average
