Restart your modem and router
Check for outages with your internet provider
Run a speed test and compare results to your plan
Move closer to the router and test again
Ensure Wi‑Fi is using the 5 GHz band (or faster option available)
Reposition the router to a central, elevated location
Avoid placing the router near walls, metal objects, or microwaves
Reduce interference from neighboring networks (change Wi‑Fi channel)
Update router firmware
Update network adapter and device software
Forget and rejoin the Wi‑Fi network on your device
Use a wired Ethernet connection for testing or for critical devices
Disable VPN/proxy temporarily to test performance
Turn off bandwidth-heavy background downloads and streaming

Limit simultaneous device usage and close unused apps
Reboot smart TVs/streaming devices and other network-heavy devices
Split 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz into separate SSIDs (if supported) to prevent band switching issues

Replace worn or damaged Ethernet cables
