Put the quote in quotation marks
Add a superscript footnote number at the end of the quote
Place the footnote number after the closing quotation mark and before the punctuation if your style guide requires it
Include the full source information in the footnote
Include the author’s name
Include the title of the work
Include the publication date
Include the page number or location of the quote
Follow the required citation style
Use the same footnote format consistently throughout the document
