Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels
Season the wings with salt, pepper, and any desired spices
Preheat the air fryer to 380°F to 400°F
Lightly coat the wings with oil if desired
Place the wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket
Cook for 20 to 25 minutes
Flip or shake the wings halfway through cooking
Increase the temperature to 400°F for the last 3 to 5 minutes for extra crispiness
Check that the internal temperature reaches 165°F
Remove the wings and let them rest for a few minutes
Toss with sauce if desired
Serve immediately
