Blot up as much urine as possible with clean towels or paper towels
Remove bedding and wash it separately in hot water if the care label allows
Mix equal parts white vinegar and water in a spray bottle
Lightly spray the stained area without soaking the mattress
Blot again with clean towels
Sprinkle a generous layer of baking soda over the damp area
Let the baking soda sit for several hours or overnight
Vacuum the baking soda thoroughly
Repeat the vinegar and baking soda process if needed
Use an enzyme cleaner made for pet or urine stains if the smell remains
Let the mattress dry completely before putting sheets back on
Place the mattress in a well-ventilated area or use a fan to speed drying
Use a waterproof mattress protector to prevent future odors
