Confirm the burrow is active by checking for fresh dirt, tracks, or recent droppings
Seal all shed openings with heavy-gauge hardware cloth or galvanized metal flashing
Bury barrier material at least 12 inches deep and extend it outward 12 to 18 inches
Fill unused burrows with gravel and soil only after the groundhogs have left
Use bright lights, motion-activated sprinklers, or noise deterrents near the shed
Remove food sources such as fallen fruit, garden produce, and pet food
Keep grass short and clear brush, woodpiles, and debris around the shed
Place strong-smelling deterrents around burrow entrances if desired
Install an exclusion fence around the shed perimeter with the bottom buried
