Locate and remove the dead mouse
Wear gloves and a mask
Seal the carcass in a plastic bag
Dispose of it according to local rules
Open windows and doors for ventilation
Run fans to move fresh air through the area
Remove and wash any contaminated bedding, insulation, or debris
Clean the area with soap and water
Disinfect hard surfaces with a bleach solution or disinfectant
Replace heavily contaminated porous materials
Use baking soda to help absorb lingering odors
Place activated charcoal or odor absorbers nearby
Clean or replace HVAC filters if needed
Check for and seal entry points to prevent more mice
Call pest control if the smell persists or the carcass cannot be found
